Minister for Equalities and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice Caroline Dinenage was asked this week about the data available on Protection Orders for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and linked in to her answer thanks to the Hansard crew, is a link to this information, which you can find a little further down our post.
The news of a diplomat’s daughter being made a ward of court with an FGM Protection Order after a mother expressed concern that her baby might be subjected to FGM may have been a factor in the issue being raised in the House of Commons two days ago.
The question asked in the House of Commons on the 8th March was this:
“To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many Female Genital Mutilation Protection Orders have been (a) applied for and (b) issued by courts since those orders were introduced.”
