We’re under no illusion about our artistic ability, but we felt compelled to show our support for the thousands of unaccompanied Syrian children in need of help, by contributing a drawing to the 3000 Chairs movement.

People around the world have been offering their paintings, images and sketches of empty chairs to highlight the tension between what needs to be done and what our government is willing to do to help Syrian child refugees.

Our effort, which is currently the blog’s header image above, is a sketch of a bean bag, unused and dented where a child should be sitting, with a torn and distressed teddy bear, unable to offer any kind of comfort. It’s our metaphor for the distress these children must be experiencing, coupled with the stresses caused by current policy which refuses to acknowledge the seriousness of the problem.
